Another award season has come & gone and I am so excited about the trends I spotted for this seasons!
Statement shoulders were so last year and everyone is wearing ruffles & sheer!
Awkwafina in Dior Gwyneth Paltrow in Fendi
Y’all know I loved the cape trend last year and while a few people did still wear them…
…the cape is on the way out and irregular silhouettes are on the rise! I feel like embracing Camp last year during the Met Gala might have influenced this trend!
One trend that is still here are full skirt gowns! I have a deep love for huge ball gowns and I love that they’re being worn more again!
All the glitter and sparkles are so in again! *all the hearts eyes emojis*
Even feathers are continuing to make a comeback!
Did he take a hint from Jada Pinkett Smith’s throwback Roberto Cavalli last year with his feather train??
One of the biggest surprises is high, conservative necklines. I’m interested to see how long this lasts.
And my favorite trend that I CANNOT wait to wear this year – VELVET.
Last year, velvet was HUGE with men’s jackets and it has made it’s way to women’s designs and it is beautiful!
Speaking of the men though… the velvet jackets are still here which I love but I noticed a lot of the men stepping out in more bold colors!
I will always love a classic black & white James Bond suit/tux but these new designs and colors are fun! I think the men should continue to get creative on the red carpet and step outside the box.
This is one of my favorite times of the year! The styles seen on the red carpet in set the tone for red carpets and other events for the rest of the year as well as trends all over!
Alright are you ready to check out all the red (or blue or silver) carpet fashion?!
Golden Globes 1.5.2020
As always, the Golden Globes kicked it off this year and here’s what I saw:
Interesting:
Tulle / Sheer (especially long sheer skirt over shirts or mini skirt)
Shimmer/Glitter
Patterns/Prints
* Laura Dern – Saint Laurent
Volume: bows on hips, shoulders; large drape-y pieces
* Bel Powley – Miu Miu
* Nicole Kidman – Versace
* Isla Fisher – Monique Lhullier
Ruffles
Irregular silhouettes:
New: Conservative Necklines
90s straight silhouette has been incredibly popular:
* Reese Witherspoon – Roland Mouret
Pant & Jumpsuits
As sad as it makes me, some women don’t love the idea of wearing a fancy big dress. Thankfully there are tons of cute pant options now! Several women opted for pantsuits and jumpsuits:

Critics Choice Awards 1.12.2020
SAG Awards 1.19.2020
The SAG awards were last night and the trends I’ve continued to observe over the last month are:
The SAG awards were last night which are the last of the US cinematic awards until the Oscars. There are still the BAFTAs and Grammy’s over the next couple of weeks but the style seen there doesn’t always fit on trend. They sometimes are they’re on unique set of trends (which is still fun!)
Grammy’s 1.26.2020
The Grammy’s are a generally a place to express for avant garde style but there are still several that follow the trends. There are also the trendsetters and rule breakers!
BAFTAS 2.2.2020
Oscars 2.9.2020
The Vanity Fair Oscar Party carpet is similar to the Grammy’s – you never know what to expect. There will be a collection of the trends, trendsetters and rule breakers!
